উবুন্টুর ব্যাবহার খুবি সহজ কারন, অনেকেই মনে করে থাকেন উবুন্টু শুদু মাত্র ডেভেলপার রা ব্যাবহার করে নয়তো ব্যাবহার করা অনেক কঠিন, আলে এরকম কিছুই না, উবুন্টু লিনাক্স একটি পারফেক্ট ডিস্ট্রো, এটি হোম ইউজার থেকে শুরু করে অফিস / ব্যাংক / সার্ভার সহ আরও অনেক ক্ষেত্রেই ব্যাবহার করা জায়, আমি চ্যালেঞ্জ করে বলতে পারি, যে মানুষ একবার উবুন্টু ব্যাবহার করবে সে এটার প্রেমে পরে যাবে।

২. কেমন হতে পারে একটি ফ্রী অপারেটিং সিস্টেম ?

একদম ফ্রি এই অপেরানিং সিস্টেম এর নেই কোন কমতি, এবং ডেবিয়ান লিনাক্স হবার কারনে আপনি পাবেন শত শত ফ্রী সফটওয়্যার, হে সব কিছুই সম্পূর্ণ ফ্রি, ঠিক এই কারনেই দিন দিন জনপ্রিয় হয়ে উথেছে উবুন্টু এবং বেড়ে চলেছে উবুন্টুর ব্যাবহার ।

৩. ভাইরাস বিহীন !

হে শুনতে অবাক লাগতেই পারে, উবুন্টু তে নেই কোনো ভাইরাস, সম্পূর্ণ ভাইরাস বিহীন থাছে এই ফ্রি অপারেটিং সিস্টেম, তাই থাকে না ডাটা ব্রিচ এর ভয়, অফিস আদালতে দিন দিন উবুন্টুর ব্যাবহার বেড়েই চলছে।

৪. স্বাধীন !

হে এতাই উবুন্টুর সবচেয়ে বড় সফলতা, আপনি আপনার ইচ্ছে মত সাজিয়ে নিতে পারেন উবুন্টু, থাকছে না কোনো ধরাবাঁধা নিয়ম, ইচ্ছে মত পালটে নিতে পারেন থিম, আইকন এমনকি ডেক্সটপ ইনভায়রমেন্ট পর্যন্ত, মনে করুন উবুন্টুর ডিফল্ট ইন্টারফেস আপনার পছন্দ হচ্ছে না তাহলে আপনি এটাও পালটে নিতে পারেন, আপনার জন্যে রয়েছে, Unity, GNOME, Lubuntu, Kubuntu, Mate সহ আরও অনেক কিছু।

৫. ইউজার কমিউনিটি !

উবুন্টুর ইউজার কমিউনিটি অনেক শক্তিশালী ফ্যান বেস এবং ডেভেলপার নিয়ে গঠন করা, অর্থাৎ আপনি কোন সমস্যায় পরলে সাপোর্ট দেয়ার মত মানুষের অভাব নেই, তাদের ফোরামে কোন সমস্যা নিয়ে পোস্ট করলে ১২ ঘণ্টার চেয়েও কম সময়ের মদ্যে আপনি রিপ্লাই পেয়ে জাবেন হয় কোন ইউজার থেকে না হয় ডেভেলপার এর কাছ থেকে।
একটু ঘুরে আসুন ফোরাম থেকে ।

৬. লো সিস্টেম এবং হাই কম্পাটিবিলিটি !

খুব নিম্ন মানের হার্ডওয়্যার এ উবুন্টু চলবে মাখনের মত, যেখানে আপনার জন্যে রয়েছে Lubuntu এবং Xubuntu এর মত দুটি ফ্লেভার, আপনার পিসির ৭০০ মেগা হার্জ প্রসেসর এবং ৫১২ এম্বি র‍্যাম আর ৫ জিবি হার্ডডিক্স থাকলেও এই সিস্টেম চালাতে পারবেন। 
আর উবুন্টুর কার্নেল খুবু শক্তিশালী, এটাতে লিনাক্স কার্নেল ব্যাবহার করা হয়েছে, এবং এটি পুরনো হার্ডওয়্যার সমর্থক, ইন্সটল এর পর পর থাকছে না কোনো ড্রাইভার সঙ্ক্রান্ত জটিলতা ।

উবুন্টু ইন্সটল করার প্রক্রিয়া !

এবার শিখে নেই নতুনদের জন্যে সহজ কিছু ধাপে উবুন্টু ইন্সটল করার প্রক্রিয়া ! আমরা এখানে শিখবো কিভাবে উবুন্টু এর ডেক্সটপ সংস্করণ ইন্সটল করতে হয়

নিচের এই টুকু সম্পূর্ণ মাতিন ভাই এর ব্লগ থেকে নেয়া

প্রথম ধাপ : বুটেবল মিডিয়া যোগাড়

ডিভিডি ব্যবহার করে:

ডিভিডি ব্যবহার করে উবুন্ট ইন্সটল করা খুবই সহজ। আপনার প্রথম কাজ হবে ডিভিডি যোগাড় করা। আপনার নিকটস্থ কম্পিউটার মার্কেটে খোঁজ লাগিয়ে উবুন্টুর লেটেস্ট ভার্সনের ডিভিডি খুঁজে বের করতে পারেন। আবার উবুন্টুর অফিসিয়াল সাইট থেকে আইএসও ফাইলটা ডাউনলোড করে নিয়ে সেটাকে কোন ডিভিডিতে রাইট করেও নিতে পারেন।

এবার ডিভিডিটা আপনার ডিভিডি-ড্রাইভে ঢুকিয়ে ফেলেন। এরপর কম্পিউটার রিস্টার্ট দিন। আপনার কম্পিউটারে রানিং কোন অপারেটিংস সিস্টেম না থাকলে ctrl+alt+delete কী একসাথে চেপে ধরে কম্পিউটার রিস্টার্ট দিতে পারেন। আশা করি অটোমেটিকালি ডিভিডি থেকে বুট হওয়া শুরু করবে। যদি তা না হয়, তাহলে esc চেপে (আপনার ক্ষেত্রে অন্য কীও হতে পারে) ডিভিডি চিনিয়ে দিন। বুট হলে আপনি একটা ওয়েলকাম স্ক্রীন দেখতে পাবেন। এখান থেকে আপনি ল্যাঙ্গুয়েজ সিলেক্ট করতে পারবেন, উবুন্টু ইন্সটল বা লাইভ মোডে ট্রাই করতে পারবেন।

এইসব মেন্যু খুঁজে না পেলে, এই বুটিং ফ্রম ডিভিডি গাইডটা ফলো করতে পারেন।

পেনড্রাইভ বা ইউএসবি ড্রাইভ ব্যবহার করে:

বেশিরভাগ লেটেস্ট কম্পিউটারগুলো ইউএসবি থেকে বুট করতে পারে। পেনড্রাইভ বুটেবল বানানো মোটামুটি সহজ কাজ। এরজন্য আপনার কাছে লেটেস্ট আইএসও ফাইল থাকতে হবে আর যেকোন একটা অপারেটিং সিস্টেমের সাহায্য লাগবে। উইন্ডোজে বসে বুটেবল করার ক্ষেত্রে ইউনিভার্সাল ইউএসবি ইন্সটলার আর লিনাক্স ডিস্ট্রোতে বসে বুটেবল করার ক্ষেত্রে ইউনেটবুটইন ব্যবহার করতে পারেন। এবার পেনড্রাইভ পোর্টে লাগিয়ে নিরিবিলি বুট করুন। আশা করি অটোমেটিকালি বুট হবে। যদি তা না হয়, তাহলে esc বা F12 চেপে (আপনার ক্ষেত্রে অন্য কীও হতে পারে) পেনড্রাইভ চিনিয়ে দিন। যদি আপনার পেনড্রাইভের নামে দুইটা অপশন দেখেন তবে যে অপশনে UEFI কথাটা নাই বা যে অপশানে EFI কথাটা আছে সেটা সিলেক্ট করুন। বুট হলে আপনি একটা ওয়েলকাম স্ক্রীন দেখতে পাবেন। এখান থেকে আপনি ল্যাঙ্গুয়েজ সিলেক্ট করতে পারবেন, উবুন্টু ইন্সটল বা লাইভ মোডে ট্রাই করতে পারবেন।

দ্বিতীয় ধাপ : প্রস্তুতি পর্ব

• ইন্সটলেশন শুরু করার আগে কম্পিউটারে পাওয়ার সোর্স প্লাগ করুন। অন্তত ১ ঘন্টা যেন নিরবচ্ছিন্ন ভাবে বিদ্যুৎ পায় সেদিকে খেয়াল রাখুন। আদতে উবুন্টু ইন্সটল হতে ১০-৪০ মিনিট সময় নেয়।
• কম্পিউটারে কমপক্ষে ৮ জিবি জায়গা খালি রাখুন। তবে শান্তিতে দীর্ঘমেয়াদে উবুন্টু ব্যবহার করার জন্য মোটামুটি ৬০-৮০ জিবি জায়গা লাগে। বেশি হলে ক্ষতি নাই। তাই এই পরিমাণ জায়গা কোন ড্রাইভ থেকে খালি করে রাখুন, ডাটার ব্যাকাপ রাখুন। উল্লেখ্য যে, আমরা এই ইন্সটলেশনে ৩ টা পার্টিশান করব। যেহেতু ৩ টার বেশি প্রাইমারি পার্টিশান করা যায় না তাই হিসাব করে দেখুন কোথাকার ড্রাইভ খালি করবেন। বেশি সমস্যা হলে, লজিক্যাল ড্রাইভ খালি করুন। এতে ইচ্ছেমত পার্টিশন করা যায়, ফ্লেক্সিবিলিটি পাবেন। (রানিং কোন অপারেটিং সিস্টেম না থাকলে স্কীপ করে যান!)
• নিচের ছবিতে দেখানো অপশন দুইটা সিলেক্ট করে দেয়ার জন্য রিকমেন্ড করছি। নেট কানেকশন না থাকলে দরকার নাই।
• উবুন্টু ইন্সটল করার সময় যাতে লেটেস্ট আপডেট গুলোও ইন্সটল হয় সেজন্য নিরবচ্ছিন্নভাবে নেট কানেকশন থাকা দরকার। তবে নেট কানেকশন না থাকলে কোন সমস্যা নাই।
• প্লাগ-এন্ড-প্লে মডেমগুলো প্লাগ করলে মোবাইল ব্রডব্যান্ড হিসাবে পাবার কথা, সেখান থেকে নেট কানেকশন চালু করত পারেন। ব্রডব্যান্ডেও সেইম কাজ। আর আাশেপাশে ওয়াইফাই থাকলে তাও ভিজিবল হবে। সেখান থেকে কানেক্ট করে নিতে পারেন। আর কিছু না থাকলে হতাশার কিছু নাই। খেলা পরে হবে।

তৃতীয় ধাপ : জায়গা-জমি বরাদ্দকরণ

এইখানে এসে অনেককিছু বিবেচনার বিষয় আছে। এক্সাইটেড হওয়া চলবে না, একটু এক্সাইটেড হইলেই কিন্তু হার্ডড্রাইভ উড়ে যাবে। যাহোক ক্ষেত্র বিশেষে এখানে বেশ কিছু অপশন আসতে পারে।

যাহাই আসুক না কেন, আমরা Something else অপশানটা সিলেক্ট করব। এটি আসলে একটি এডভান্সড অপশন। কিন্তু, যেহেতু এটি আমাদেরকে ব্যাপক পাওয়ার দিবে তাই এটি সিলেক্ট করাই শ্রেয়। বলা ভাল, চিত্রে উল্লেখিত অপশানটি সিলেক্ট করলে আপনার হার্ডডিস্ক কিন্তু ধুম করে উড়ে যাবে। যাহোক, Something else সিলেক্ট করলে নিচের মত কিছু দেখতে পাবার কথা।

এখানে আপনার হার্ডডিক্স আর তাতে থাকা সব পার্টিশন দেখাচ্ছে। যদি ইতিমধ্যে আপনার কম্পিউটারে উইন্ডোজ ইন্সটল দেয়া থাকে তবে তা দেখাবে। কোন পার্টিশান না থাকলে পুরোটাই ফ্রী স্পেস হিসাবে দেখাবে। মূল কথা, আপনাকে পূর্বে যে ৬০-৮০ জিবি ফাঁকা করে রাখতে বলেছিলাম তা এখান কাজে লাগবে। পূর্বে ফাঁকা করে না থাকলে। এখনই ফাঁকা করে ফেলুন। শুধু মনে রাখুন + দিয়ে নতুন পার্টিশন তৈরি করা যায়, – দিয়ে আগের পার্টিশন ডিলিট করা যায় আর change দিয়ে পার্টিশন রিসাইজ মানে আগের পার্টিশনের সাইজ বাড়ানো-কমানো যায়। যাহোক, ৬০-৮০ জিবির মত ফ্রী স্পেস পাওয়া গেলে আমরা আমাদের দরকারি তিনটা পার্টিশন তৈরির কাজ শুরু করব।

রুট পার্টিশন তৈরি:

free space সিলেক্ট করে + বাটন চেপে দিন। নতুন একটা বক্স আসবে। টাইপ বিবেচনা করে primary বা logical দিন। রুটের জন্য ৪.৫ জিবি জায়গা হলেই হয়ে যায়। তবে ৩০ জিবি দেয়ার জন্য রিকমেন্ড করছি। ৩০ জিবিকে মেগাবাইটে কনভার্ট করে বক্সে বসিয়ে দিন। Location for the new partition এ Begining সিলেক্ট করুন। Use as এ পার্টিশন ফরম্যাট দিতে হয়। ext3, ext4 বা লেটেস্ট btrfs – তিনটার যেকোন একটা দিলেই চলে। তবে ext4 দিতে রিকমেন্ড করছি।

এবার আসি Mount point এর ব্যাপারে। রুট পার্টিশানের জন্য মাউন্ট পয়েন্ট হল: / এর কোন বিকল্প নাই।

সোয়াপ পার্টিশন তৈরি:

রুট পার্টিশনের মত করেই হবে প্রায় সব। তবে পার্থক্য আছে।

সোয়াপ সাইজ কত দিতে হবে তা নিয়ে বিজ্ঞজনদের ভিতর মতভেদ আছে। সাধারণ নিয়ম হল, সোয়াপ সাইজ হবে র‍্যামের দ্বিগুণ। সোয়াপ আসলে র‍্যামের মামাত ভাই, র‍্যামের বিকল্প হিসাবে কাজ করে তবে ড্রপ-ইন রিপ্লেসমেন্ট নয়। তাছাড়া আমরা যারা নরমাল সাটা হার্ডডিস্ক ব্যবহার করি, তাদের ডিস্কের I/O রেট ভালই কম (অন্তত র‍্যামের তুলনায়)। এই জিনিস দিয়ে তো আর র‍্যামের কাজ চলে না। তাই না? তাই সোয়াপ সাইজ ১-২ জিবি হলেই চলে। তবে আপনি যদি SSD ইউজার হন তাইলে সোয়াপ সাইজ র‍্যামের দ্বিগুণ দিতেই পারেন।

Location for the new partition এ End সিলেক্ট করে দিন। Use as এর জায়গায় Swap area দিন, এর কোন বিকল্প নাই। আর সোয়াপের কোন মাউন্ট পয়েন্ট হয় না।

হোম পার্টিশন তৈরি:

রুট পার্টিশনের মত করেই সব করুন। সাইজ যতটুকু বাকি আছে সব হোমে দিয়া দিন। আর Mount point হবে /home এবং এর কোন বিকল্প নাই।

চতুর্থ ধাপ : ইন্সটলেশন শুভ সূচনা

আগের ধাপে সবকিছু ঠিকঠাক থাকলে Install Now বাটন চেপে দিন। এর মধ্য দিয়ে আমরা উবুন্টু ইন্সটলেশনের শুভ সূচনা করলাম।

পঞ্চম ধাপ : স্থান-কাল-পাত্র নির্বাচন

আপনি যদি ইতিমধ্যে ইন্টারনেটের সাথে কানেক্টেড থাকেন তাইলে স্থান-কাল-পাত্র অটোমেটিকালি পেয়ে যাবার কথা। শুধু চেক করে দেখুন যে সব ঠিক আছে। ঠিক না থাকলে বক্সে আপনার টাউনের নাম লিখে সার্চ দিন, তারপর সেটা সিলেক্ট করে দিন। টাইমজোন ঠিক থাকলে Forward বাটন চেপে দিন।

ষষ্ঠ ধাপ : কীবোর্ড নির্বাচন

এই নিচের চিত্রে যাই দেখাউক না কেন, বাম পাশের বক্স থেকে English (US) আর ডানপাশের বক্স থেকে English (US) সিলেক্ট করে দিন।

সপ্তম ধাপ : ইউজারনেম-পাসওয়ার্ড তৈরিকরণ

Your name এ আপনার নাম দিন (যেমন – Lola Chang), Your computer’s name এ আপনার কম্পিউটারের মডেল সমেত নাম দিন (যেমন – lola-laptom) আর তারপর ইউজারনেম-পাসওয়ার্ড দিয়ে Continue বাটনে চাপ লাগান। ভাল বোঝার জন্য নিচের ছবিটা দেখুন।

অষ্টম ধাপ : চা বিরতি

কতক্ষণ রেস্ট নিতে হবে। হবে নাকি এক কাপ চা?

তো শুরু করে দিন দিনযাপন উবুন্টুর সাথে, কোন প্রকার সমস্যা হলে কমেন্ট করবেন, আমি আছি সবসময়।
